Frequently Asked Questions
I already train in a crew, how will this work for me? If you’re training with a squad 2–3 times per week, we integrate that into your overall load and adjust your training accordingly. Your plan complements your crew or club training, it doesn’t have to compete with it.
I am an older athlete, is it still realistic for me to improve? If you’re training at least three times per week and are open to training in new ways, then yes. Most plateaus come from mis-targeted or mis-performed training, not age. When training is structured and refined consistently, improvement compounds. We have helped athletes as old as 77 achieve sustained improvement.
How is this different from following my club program? Squad programs are built for an "average" of the group, and often have to accommodate wildly different ages, abilities, backgrounds and aspirations. Here, your program is built around your physiology, your constraints, and your schedule. We use structured testing and ongoing refinement to target your specific bottlenecks, so you can make sustained and deliberate improvement. That’s the difference between training hard, and training effectively.
What if I am sick or need to travel for an extended time If you are unable to train for an extended period the program can be paused. Any weeks you have already paid for will roll over until you are able to recommence.
What country do I need to be in to do this program? No. All coaching is delivered online. We work with athletes globally
I have specific health issues. Is that a problem? Your program is built around your current capacity and medical constraints. If you have a diagnosed condition, we’ll work within those parameters. If unsure, we may recommend clearance from your medical professional before starting.
What equipment do I need for this program? Your program will be written based on what you have access to - ergo, boat, weights or cross training equipment.
Will I be working with Sam or someone else? All athletes train inside the TopCrew performance model. In the Personal Performance Program, your monthly coaching calls and video reviews are delivered by a dedicated TopCrew Performance Coach. Sam leads the onboarding process, live group calls and oversees the system. Direct 1:1 coaching with Sam is available through the Performance Elite tier.
